Chimur Assembly constituency
Chimur Assembly constituency, part of Maharashtra’s 288 Vidhan Sabha seats, is located in Chandrapur district and falls within the Gadchiroli-Chimur Lok Sabha constituency. Known for its active electorate, Chimur recorded a voter turnout of 70.95% in the 2019 Assembly elections.
In the 2019 elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Bunty Bhangdiya secured victory, defeating Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Satish Manohar Warjukar by a margin of 9,752 votes.
Bhangdiya’s win marked his second consecutive term, following his 2014 victory where he garnered 87,377 votes against INC’s Dr Avinash Manoharrao Warjukar.
In the 2024 Assembly elections, Bhangdiya will once again represent the BJP, facing INC’s Satish Manoharrao Warjukar. With both parties vying for influence in this constituency, the election is expected to be a closely watched race.
