Visakhapatnam: The NDA parties were gaining strength to secure the mayor's seat in the no-confidence motion as three more corporators and an ex-officio member of YSRCP officially announced their intention to join the
Jana Sena party. Meanwhile, left parties CPI and CPM decided not to participate in the no-confidence motion council meeting scheduled for April 19 against mayor G Venkata Hari Kumar and deputy mayor Giyyani Sridhar of YSRCP on April 26.
YSRCP leader and ex-officio member Behera Bhaskar Rao met with city Jana Sena president and Visakha South MLA Vamsi Krishna late on Monday night. He, along with his corporator wife Behara Venkata Swarnalatha Sivadevi (91 ward) and his daughter-in-law Jyotsna (92 ward), are joining Janasena.
It may be recalled that Tippala Devan Reddy, the son of former Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagireddy of YSRCP, had already announced his decision to join Jana Sena.
CPM and CPI district secretaries M Jaggu Naidu and Marupilla Pydiraju, along with CPI floor leader in GVMC, AJ Stalin, announced that their corporators in GVMC would not participate in the no-confidence motion. Both parties have one corporator each in GVMC. They alleged that horse trading was taking place in the no-confidence motion.
