Over 5,000 acres in Chamarajanagar belong to us: Erstwhile Mysuru royal family

The erstwhile Mysuru royal family Monday made claim to more than 5,000 acres of land in neighbouring Chamarajanagar district, saying these parcels of land were declared the property of the royal family as far back as 1951.
At the same time, family matriarch Pramoda Devi Wadiyar asked villagers not to panic and told them that none of them would face eviction even if the khata is in her name.
Pramoda Devi told reporters at Mysuru Palace that over 5,135 acres of land -- 4,445 acres in Attagulipura, 199 acres in Ummathuru, and the rest in about 10 villages -- spread across 18 survey numbers belong to the royal family based on documentation signed by the then chief secretary on May 17, 1951.
Besides, land parcels in Benkipura, Thippur, Chillahally, Harachanahally, Budithittu, Karadihalla, Kannikere, Basavapura, Southanahally, Kaggaliborekaval, and Kamenahally belong to the royal family, she stated.
Responding to statements by Chamarajanagar deputy commissioner Shilpa Nag who had said there are "no relevant" documents, Pramoda Devi said: "The deputy commissioner may not be fully informed (about the case). In 2014, we submitted all documents, including the 1951 declaration by the chief secretary, to officials, including the principal secretary (revenue), Chamarajanagar DC, ADC and AC. We even have acknowledgements for these submissions. Yet, we have not received any response to date."
Despite her attempts to reach out to the district administriation, there has been no reply, she said.
