NEW DELHI: Punjab Kings surged to fourth place in the Indian Premier League 2025 points table after pulling off a sensational 16-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders in a dramatic low-scoring clash at Mullanpur, Chandigarh on Tuesday.
Defending a mere 111 — the lowest total ever successfully defended in IPL history — Punjab’s bowlers delivered a masterclass to bowl out KKR for just 95 in 15.1 overs. The victory marked PBKS's fourth win in six games, taking their tally to 8 points and significantly boosting their playoff hopes.

Meanwhile, KKR slipped to sixth in the standings with six points from seven games. It was their fourth defeat of the season and a major blow to their momentum after looking comfortable in the early stages of the chase.

Yuzvendra Chahal turned the game on its head with figures of 4/28, triggering a collapse after KKR were cruising at 62/2. Marco Jansen (3/17) and debutant Xavier Bartlett also played key roles in dismantling the batting order.
Earlier, PBKS had stumbled from 39/0 to 111 all out, with Harshit Rana (3/25) and Varun Chakravarthy doing the damage. Despite the collapse, Punjab’s spirited defense sealed a crucial win and lifted them into the top four.
