300 acres being transformed into grand venue for PM’s address in Madhubani
Madhubani: About 300 acres of agriculture fields Lohana (north) panchayat in Jhanjharpur subdivision of the district are being transformed into a grand venue for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public address on April 24, marking the celebration of panchayati raj in the country.
About two lakh people are expected to participate in the event.
About 100 acres have been designated for the main event, where massive canopies are being erected for the people expected to gather for the PM's speech. The remaining about 200 acres at Lohana (north) panchayat under Jhanjharpur subdivision of the district is being meticulously prepared to host ancillary needs such as three helipads for the PM, two for CM and parking areas, said Chandan Kumar Jha, DCLR, Jhanjharpur.
Local authorities and organisers are leaving no stone unturned, with the fields buzzing with workers, heavy machinery, and decorators turning the rural landscape into a vibrant hub of festivity. "For the people of Mithilanchal, this event is more than a celebration, it's a historic moment," said state's industries minister, Nitish Mishra, who also is BJP MLA from Jhanjharpur.
"We have never seen anything like this," said Ramesh Thakur, a local farmer. "The scale, the energy—it feels like something big is coming," he added.
The air is thick with expectations, as residents are anticipating important announcements from the PM. Many hope for schemes that could uplift rural economies, empower local governance, and address long-standing regional challenges.
The event is being seen as an opportunity to reflect on the impact of panchayati raj and chart a future for inclusive growth, said the minister.
However, there is a flip side to the whole episode. Ram Sevak Rai, a farmer of Shuklarahi panchayat, who was busy loading on a cart his not-fully-ripe harvested wheat as his field fell within the earmarked area, expressed doubts about the payment of assured compensation.
