Degree college hosts 10th annual sports meet in Mysuru
Mysuru: Seshadripuram Degree College and Department of Physical Education and Sports organised the 10th annual sports meet at Muda sports ground, Vijayanagar. Mountaineer, marathoner, and retired senior general manager at TCS, MP Shamala, was the chief guest of the event. Archana Swamy N, principal of Seshadripuram PU college, and director of physical education at Seshadripuram Institute of Technology, Raghavendra R, were present on the occasion.
Vijay Surya, a second-year BCom student bore the torch, who secured bronze in the southwest zone inter-university karate championship and represented the University of Mysore (UoM) in All India Karate and Kickboxing. Aishwarya MD, a third-year BCA student represented Mysore University in the south zone handball competition. Inchara R, a third-year BBA student, represented the southwest zone in weightlifting, secured 14th place, and was selected for All India inter-university women's weightlifting championship 2024-25. Lavanya Bhat, a third-year BCom student, represented UoM in the southwest zone weightlifting championship and secured a bronze medal. Rakshitha N, a second-year BBA student, won the championship trophy in the open national level karate championship 2024, and represented the south zone handball competition from the UoM. Guru Kiran HA, a third-year BCA student, represented the UoM in the southwest zone weightlifting championship, and Kumar Shivam read the sports oath.
Students participated in various events such as shot put, running, discus throw, javelin throw, cricket, kabaddi, volleyball, chess, carrom, throwball, and table tennis.
The dignitaries felicitated the achievers with the Sports Excellence Awards 2024-25. Sowmya Erappa K, principal of Seshadripuram Degree College, was present.
