Inauguration of air-conditioned study centre for underprivileged students in Colaba
Mumbai: An air-conditioned study centre was inaugurated in Colaba to support underprivileged students. The facility was developed through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding in collaboration with the BMC.
Former Corporator Makrand Narwekar stated that it was the first of its kind AC study centre in Colaba for underprivileged students. "At a time, around 30 students from underprivileged families can now study at this centre located near Budhwar Park main signal. This AC centre has benches and a drinking water facility for students. It will be open from 11am to 6:30 pm. Under the leadership of Speaker of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, Rahul Narwekar, we were able to execute this project with the help of CSR funding and in partnership with BMC. This centre will benefit hundreds of students who come here to study from the neighbouring slums like Shiv Shakti Nagar, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Garib Janata Nagar, Steel Godown, etc."
Aryan Gupta, 18, preparing for HSC in commerce, said, "It's a blessing to have this centre. I stay in the nearby Shiv Shakti Nagar area. Studying for 4-5 hours at a stretch in this heat is not possible. This AC centre will be of help. After 12th, I will prepare for Chartered Accountant (CA) exams, and this centre will be of help."
