Mangaluru/ Udupi: An Instagram page with around one lakh followers, known for posting
provocative contenton social media, was deactivated. City police commissioner Anupam Agrawal stated that in connection with the murder case of Suhas Shetty under the jurisdiction of Bajpe police limits, posts were made on the Instagram page ‘beary_royal_nawab' that incited hatred among different religious and social communities.Three cases were registered at Barke and Mulki police stations, and the investigation of these cases was transferred to CEN police station in Mangaluru City.A letter was sent to the relevant law-enforcement agency to provide information about the page. As a result, the agency deactivated the ‘beary_royal_nawab' Instagram page.Investigation into these cases is being continued at CEN crime police station under the guidance of the commissioner, DCPs Sidharth Goyal and K Ravi Shankar.In another similar case, police identified and interrogated Mohammad Akram from Haleyangadi, who followed an Instagram account that made the provocative comment.In connection with the murder case of Suhas, it was found that ‘beary_of_ullala' page shared reels in 2022 containing photos of Mahammed Fazil, who was murdered in 2022. The reels included the message ‘MISS YOU Faasil'. The Instagram account holder bazigar8614 posted a comment with a provocative message on the reel. Based on this comment, Ullal police registered a case under sections 196 and 353(2) of BNS, and the case was transferred to the Mangaluru CEN crime police station for further investigation. Following this, police identified Akram, who was following the Instagram account that posted the provocative message, the commissioner said, adding that investigation is on.Case booked for derogatory messageKarkala Rural police registered a case in connection with derogatory writing found inside the toilet of a ladies' hostel inside the campus of an engineering college. Udupi SP Arun K said some unidentified people wrote a message that is detrimental to Hindu and Muslim religions using a pen inside the college hostel toilet.After the hostel manager brought the issue to the notice of police on Friday, a case under Section 353(2) of the BNS was registered.
