Kanpur: A man approached the police with an audio clip in which his father-in-law could be heard asking an associate for a country-made firearm to shoot him on his daughter's request in Kanpur. The audio clip has gone viral on social media.
The victim approached Kalyanpur police station, citing threats to his life. ACP Kalyanpur Abhishek Pandey confirmed that the authorities are examining the case.
The complainant stated that he was married to a woman from Narwal seven years ago, and they have a five-year-old child. He said that his wife's conduct was difficult since the wedding leading to constant disputes. He also alleged facing threats and physical assault from his in-laws.
Four months ago, his wife left for her parental home with their son. Later, he discovered an audio recording in which his father-in-law was heard discussing acquiring a .315 bore weapon, stating his daughter's wish to shoot her husband. In the recording his father-in-law's intentions to seriously harm him were also heard.
Fearing for his safety, the man has registered a complaint with Kalyanpur police. ACP Kalyanpur Abhishek Pandey stated, "The police are currently verifying the authenticity of the viral audio. Swift action is anticipated in this sensational case."
