3 cops suspended for false plaint resolution in Jhansi
Jhansi: Three police officials, including SHO Nawababad, were suspended for uploading false information while resolving an IGRS complaint in Jhansi. A commotion erupted in the Jhansi police department after a serious complaint lodged on the public hearing portal (IGRS) was found to be falsely resolved. Senior Superintendent of Police Sudha Singh took stringent action when a complaint by an administrative officer from Bundelkhand University was not appropriately addressed. Subsequently, inspector Jitendra Kumar Singh of Nawabad police station, university outpost in-charge Ashwani Dixit, and the IGRS in-charge female constable were suspended.
On March 23, Pushpa Gautam, an administrative officer at Bundelkhand University, lodged a complaint on the public hearing portal alleging harassment by certain university teachers. This complaint was digitally transferred to the university outpost in-charge Ashwani Dixit. The outpost in-charge cited a letter from the university registrar, Vinay Kumar Singh, and dismissed the complaint as an internal investigation matter. However, the evidence uploaded on the portal during the resolution process was alarming. The photograph uploaded in place of complainant Pushpa Gautam was of another woman.
According to Pushpa Gautam, the police never conducted a formal interrogation regarding the matter. They merely attempted to gather information via telephone once, without any direct contact. Nevertheless, the complaint was resolved without proper investigation or considering the complainant's perspective.
When the matter reached the higher authorities, the police department initially claimed it was a case of "mistakenly uploaded a wrong photo." However, a thorough investigation revealed it was not mere negligence but calculated fraud. Consequently, SSP Sudha Singh ordered the suspension of the involved police officers and personnel late at night. SSP Sudha Singh stated, "The three personnel found guilty in the investigation have been suspended with immediate effect, and further departmental action will be taken."
