2 masons die in wall collapse

Kanpur: Two masons died after a wall of adjacent building collapsed in the Andiyana locality in Farrukhabad district on Monday. A rescue operation lasting two hours and 20 minutes was initiated amid concern that two other persons might be trapped. The incident occurred while measurements for pillar placement were being taken after foundation digging when the wall of a neighbouring construction site gave way, resulting in the death of two masons.

On Monday, masons and workers were measuring for pillar placement when, at about 3:30 pm, a 15-foot wall from Amrish Tiwari's under-construction house collapsed. Two masons became trapped, while two workers escaped. The police started rescue operations using municipal JCB equipment. Trapped masons, contractor Ishrat (50) and Ranjit Jatav (50), were recovered and rushed to Lohia Hospital, where they were pronounced dead. TNN
