BENGALURU: An incident of road rage in east Bengaluru on Monday between a motorcyclist and an Indian Air Force (IAF) couple escalated into a linguistic dispute. The Wing Commander, who was travelling by car with his spouse, claimed he was verbally attacked in Kannada language and subsequently physically assaulted without any cause.

This altercation could have been avoided by both parties. In fact, as seen clearly in the video, 6–7 youngsters stepped in and tried to separate them during the incident.
“This fight could have been avoided by both. In fact, when this altercation was taking place, 6-7 youngsters tried to separate both of them which is very clear from the video,” said deputy commissioner of police (Bengaluru East) D Devaraj.
“We will also review the dashcam video of the car to ascertain how the duel started, ” DCP Devaraj added.
The intense situation began at around 6.20am Monday as Bose, accompanied by his wife Madhumita Dutta, was travelling from their residence in DRDO Phase-1 Township, CV Raman Nagar. They were heading towards Old Madras Road, as Bose needed to reach the airport for his flight to Kolkata.

Madhumita Dutta, wife of the Wing Commander, said that the biker suddenly stopped his bike in front of our car and threatened us, saying, ‘You are from DRDO, I can see the sticker.
“I looked at him (the biker), he crossed and we moved ahead. He stopped his bike in front of our car suddenly, he got down and from the front window he started abusing me and hit my husband continuously. He took a stone and hit my husband on head. He threatened us by staying ‘you are from DRDO, I can see the sticker. This is Kannad land, I will see you’. I told my husband to sit in the car, but the unknown person dragged him on the road, ” said Madhumita Dutta.
“The locals were speaking Kannada and thrashed my husband on the road; the mob was hitting us. I somehow pulled my husband out and put him in the car, he was full of blood. Even I got hurt on my legs, ” Madhumita added.
