Randeep Hooda, Vineet Kumar Singh has been in the middle of few controversies as the film was accused of hurting religious sentiments of the Christians. Thus, the makers removed the scene. Meanwhile, amidst all that, the film holded well in its second weekend and made a decent number. On Monday though, it has started seeing a drop, as it's also now facing a tough competition from 'Kesari 2' starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, Ananya Panday.
Jaat Movie Review'Jaat' makes Rs 1.86 crore on second Monday, crosses Rs 75 crore
The film which opened at around Rs 9.5 crore, made around Rs 61.75 crore within 1 week, which was till Thursday. On day 9, which was Good Friday, the movie made around Rs 4 crore. This happened despite the fact that on the same day, it was surrounded amidst controversies where it faced backlash for hurting religious sentiments. On Friday, Askshay Kumar's 'Kesari 2' also released which gave a tough competition to 'Jaat' as it opened at Rs 7.5 crore and it saw a good growth through word of mouth. The movie made around Rs 3.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 5.15 crore on Sunday. And on Monday, it saw a major drop when compared to the Sunday trend which was also expected. It made Rs 1.86 crore on second Monday. Thus, the total collection of 'Jaat' according to Sacnilk, now stands at Rs 76.26 crore.
Meanwhile, 'Kesari 2' made Rs 4.59 crore on first Monday.
Semi-hit at the moment
According to Box Office India, the film has done a good business in Rajasthan, UP, Delhi, East Punjab. But at the moment, 'Jaat' can be called a semi-hit. It may be a hit in some circuits like the above mentioned but it was still expected to do better in Maharashtra and some other circuits.
On day 13, which is Tuesday, the film took a slow start and had earned up to around Rs 16 lakh in the morning shows but one could see growth till the evening the night shows. The movie may collect slightly lesser on Tuesday than the Monday numbers.
