Rohit Shetty and Shah Rukh Khan, who collaborated on 'Chennai Express' and 'Dilwale', have no fallout despite rumors. Shetty emphasized mutual respect and waiting for the right script to reunite. He also highlighted close bonds with industry friends like Ajay Devgn and Deepika Padukone, praising their dedication and support.
Rohit Shetty and Shah Rukh Khan joined forces for the first time with the 2013 action-comedy 'Chennai Express', featuring Deepika Padukone as the female lead. The movie was a massive hit, earning Rs 227 crore net domestically and Rs 422 crore globally. The duo reunited in 2015 for 'Dilwale', a romantic action-comedy that reunited Khan and Kajol on screen, alongside Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. However, 'Dilwale' didn’t perform as well, earning Rs 148 crore net in India and Rs 388 crore worldwide, falling short of expectations.
Rohit Shetty Addresses Fallout Rumours
During a recent appearance on Komal Nahta’s Game Changers podcast, Rohit Shetty was asked whether he had a fallout with Shah Rukh Khan following the box office failure of Dilwale. He dismissed the rumors, saying, "There's nothing like that. We have mutual respect. We started our own production house after Dilwale. We decided that we will make our own films so that if we face a loss, it is on us. However, we did not face a loss in Dilwale. Dilwale was the biggest hit in overseas. But then I took a call that I should be the person responsible now."
Close Bonds in the Industry
In the same discussion, the director spoke about his closest friends in the Hindi film industry, saying, "There are 2-3 people (I can call up at 2 am). There’s Ajay sir, Ranveer Singh, Deepika. I’m very close to them." He expressed that he regards Ajay Devgn as an elder brother and revealed that Deepika Padukone filmed scenes for the 2024 action thriller Singham Again while pregnant. Rohit shared, "When only the last schedule of our film was pending, Deepika was four months pregnant. But she came for the shoot. Relations like these are rarely made," highlighting the rare bond they share.
