Rajkumar Santoshi’s iconic comedy Andaz Apna Apna is set to make a comeback on the big screen on April 25, and veteran actor Paresh Rawal has revisited his fond memories from the film. Known for playing the memorable dual role of Ram Gopal Bajaj and his lookalike Teja, Paresh shared anecdotes about his co-stars Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.
During a candid chat with Radio Nasha Official, Paresh highlighted the striking difference in Aamir and Salman’s acting approaches. He called Salman’s own charm and charisma powerful. “He was like a breeze. But with Aamir, his way of working is methodical. Salman toh hasste khelte aayega aur karlega, Aamir has to know everything. So, kabhi kabhi lagta tha ki thoda toh kahin par manufacture kia hua lagta hai. But, when you see his final impact, it’s amazing. (Salman would arrive cheerfully and just do it, whereas Aamir has to know everything. So, at times, it felt like something was slightly manufactured.) But when you see his final impact, it’s amazing,” he remarked.

The seasoned actor shared how rare it is for actors to laugh at comedy scenes while shooting them. However, Andaz Apna Apna was an exception. He felt fortunate to be part of Rajkumar Santoshi’s film. “Many people say Hera Pheri was so funny, but we didn’t even realise it at the time. But this (Andaz Apna Apna) is the only film in which we were having fun even while making it. The way our director explained every scene, we used to have a lot of fun, and we knew deep down that it was funny,” he explained.

Andaz Apna Apna is now a generational favourite
Despite its current cult status, the film didn’t enjoy the spotlight when it was first released in 1994. Paresh expressed disappointment over the initial reception the movie received. He called the initial setback during the release a complete misfire. However, he acknowledged how quickly the film has grown in popularity over the past few years. Paresh also reflected on the enduring love fans continue to show, with Andaz Apna Apna now being a timeless classic that brings joy to new generations.
