Conor McGregor once again makes it to the headlines with his recent interview with Tucker Carlson. The fighter expressed his opinions on several issues, including his presidential bid, tariffs, the disintegration of the Irish culture, as well as his thoughts on Donald Trump’s new and upcoming policies. Former UFC champion Conor McGregor has left behind an incredible legacy within the Octagon and still has two more fights left in his contract. However, his recent political ambitions have taken over his fighting career, and the Notorious is quite active on social media, vouching for support in his political venture. McGregor, despite his desires, has been facing issues in moving forward with his wish to run for the presidency of Ireland. To secure a legitimate run for the presidential post, the fighter will have to gain the support of 20 members of the Irish Oireachtas or four local authorities, which is a far-fetched idea for now.
In a recent episode of the Tucker Carlson show, the fighter got vocal about the hindrances being faced by him, as well as how the Irish culture is being erased owing to the migration issues. While talking about the biggest motivation behind the fighter’s step in venturing into the political world, the Notorious stated, “Far left, far right - all of these terminologies mean nothing to me. I am a family man. I am a supporter of many people. And I care about my land. And the safety of its citizens. And the prosperity of its citizens. I want preference.” The fighter continued, “I want peace, preference and prosperity for the citizens of Ireland. For my people. And isn’t that fair? For our countrymen and women. It is our country. And you know, that is it. I am not right, left. I feel I am centered. Grounded. And that is what I feel. Infact I ground myself everyday. I walk out and I ground myself everyday, barefoot on the grass.”

The fighter visibly drew his inspiration from his bouts within the Octagon, “Barefoot is king. I have fought in the Octagon, in the cages all around in the country of Ireland and in the United States of America, barefoot!!! So I am a grounded man. I am neither left nor right. I am centered and grounded.”
The emotional post generated a wave of reactions from the MMA fan community and the citizens of Ireland. One of the users stated, “You’re not right nor left. You’re an Irishman and like every generation of Irishman we have to stand up for ourselves. It’s in our DNA. Ireland belongs to the Irish.”

Another one wrote, “KEEP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT FOR THE PEOPLE OF IRELAND”

“I love THAT. This isn't football where you pick a team and support them blindly. It's about what type of world do we want to live in!”

While there is a tough hindrance on McGregor’s political journey from the side of the opposition, we are yet to see if the fighter’s constant persuasion will ultimately yield any positive result for him.
