Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green has been announced a finalist for the 2024-25 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award. He is accompanied by Atlanta Hawks’ Dyson Daniels and Cleveland Cavaliers’ Evan Mobley. Though the Warriors welcomed the NBA’s announcement and appreciated Green, fans could not keep calm and shared mixed reactions to the development.

NBA’s nominations for the 2024-25 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award are out, and Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green has a good reason to smile. He is among the three finalists for the award. The Warriors expressed pleasure and appreciated the player calling him ‘Defensive Mastermind.’

However, the appreciation triggered a fan war on the internet. Some vehemently opposed the nomination, while a few seconded the Warriors’ thoughts about the player.

“Such a joke”, commented another fan, criticizing Warriors’ praise for Green.

However, the Warriors’ appreciation post garnered some encouraging responses, too, reflecting Green’s popularity among the team's fans.

“He should win it,” another fan suggested.
“It’s coming home”, said another fan, showing confidence in Green’s win.

The Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green, 35, got his due with the announcement of the 2024-25 Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award nominations. The impregnable defense strategies of the Warriors’ star had a positive team impact, as under his guidance, the team was rated 109.7 in March 2025.
Over 68 games, Green achieved a rating of 108.6, underscoring his defensive brilliance and crucial role in the team’s defense. The player’s finest performance was against the Milwaukee Bucks, when he restricted Giannis Antetokounmpo scoreless on 0-for-7 shooting.
In the 2024-25 season, he averaged 1.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, according to StatMuse, which reflected his versatility and command as the Warriors’ exemplary defense.
