CHANDIGARH: The Narwal family from Sector-7, Karnal, Haryana, is shattered after losing their only son, Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, in Tuesday’s terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
The 26-year-old Indian Navy officer was visiting the Valley with his wife Himanshi for their honeymoon, just days after their wedding on April 16.
The family last spoke to the couple on April 19 during a grand post-wedding celebration held in Karnal. Following the event, the newlyweds left for a tour of Pahalgam and nearby areas.
Lieutenant Narwal, who was currently posted at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi, was the only son of his parents. He is survived by his parents and a younger sister. Details regarding his wife’s condition were not available at the time of filing this report.
Initial reports suggest that the officer was shot in the chest, neck, and left arm. He was declared brought dead at the hospital.
A spokesperson for the Indian Navy confirmed that Lieutenant Vinay Narwal was killed in the Pahalgam attack while he was on leave. His father, Rajesh Narwal, a superintendent with the GST department in Panipat, was unreachable. However, Karnal district administration officials confirmed the death of the young officer.
The Narwal family hails from Bhusli village in Karnal district, Haryana.
