3 more cops transferred over double suicide bid

Trichy: Three police personnel have been transferred from a station in Thanjavur district after two sisters of a crime suspect attempted to die by suicide last week. Station inspector inspector Sharmila was moved to the wait list after one of the sisters succumbed to her injuries a day later. On Tuesday, Thanjavur SP R Rajaram passed orders to transfer sub-inspectors S Kaliyaperumal and V Arivazhagan to stations in Vattathikottai and Vallam respectively, and head constable H Manimegalai to Thiruvonam. The sisters, Menaka, 31, and Kirthiga, 29, had attempted suicide outside Nadukaveri police station on April 8 protesting the arrest of their brother Dinesh, allegedly involved in several criminal cases. Kirthiga died on April 9 while Menaka continues to remain under treatment.
