Jamshedpur: The Tata Steel Utility and Infrastructure Services Ltd (TS UISL) started supplying piped drinking water to the residents of 10-number Basti from Monday.
As many as 109 households are getting supply water in the initial phases while the company aims to reach out to 1,000 houses at Padma Road, Sukhia Road, and Sindhu Road in the vicinity of 10 No. Basti, a densely populated residential area in the eastern part of the city.
Company officials said that the supply line network was laid to cater to 1,000 houses, but initially, 109 houses received the connections following the completion of the necessary formalities.
Besides, 150 applications are currently pending with the company. The number of applications is expected to increase further with the start of the supply of piped water, officials said.
TS UISL MD Rituraj Sinha recently said the company is keen on providing better civic amenities to the citizens and, accordingly, plans are afoot to provide water, electricity, and cleanliness to the residents near its command area.
