Ranchi: JMM passed several political resolutions at its 13th Mahadhiveshan, which started at Tana Bhagat stadium in Ranchi on Monday, even as the party leaders emphasised on expanding its role in other states, apart from Jharkhand.
The political resolution presented by former deputy CM Stephen Marandi included 27 percent reservation for other backward classes, 75 percent reservation to locals in private industries, caste census and recognition of Sarna as a separate code.
The convention also approved proposals related to rejection of Waqf Amendment Act and opposition to delimitation of constituencies.
JMM supremo Shibu Soren inaugurated the two-day meet, which has delegations from different parts of Jharkhand and the neighbouring states.
Addressing the party workers, CM and working president Hemant Soren alleged that powerful forces are standing against JMM adding they are even conspiring to send the party leaders to jail when the latter speak against them.
He added, "The JMM has never feared them nor will fear them in future nor it would bend before them. The JMM is able to face such forces with the support of its workers".
He alleged that tribal, dalits, backward and minorities of the state were exploited in the past and their ‘jal' ‘jungle' and ‘zameen' were destroyed adding that under his government the original residents would get the benefits first. He said that the deprived sections of the society have united to uproot the feudal and capitalist forces from the state.
The CM stated that when the party's president Shibu Soren started separate Jharkhand movement some people laughed at him. He added that soon after people started joining the agitation adding that separate state was created in 2000 after a long battle and sacrifices of many people. Party general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said JMM would focus on fighting elections in other states in the coming months.
