One arrested in Gandhi Maidan firing incident
Patna: A day after the incident of violence and firing at Lalji Tola under Gandhi Maidan police station in Patna, in which one person was injured, an accused, Mantu Kumar, was arrested on Wednesday. Five other accused, including VIP member Anand Madhukar alias Batakhara, named in the police complaint are absconding.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when two groups clashed over a land dispute, and 12 rounds were fired.
Gandhi Maidan police station SHO Rajesh Kumar said a case was registered against Madhukar, Mrityunjay Kumar, Mantu, Bittu Kumar, Raj Kishore, and several other unidentified individuals following a complaint by one Vidyabhushan Prasad.
According to the complainant, the accused forcibly attempted to seize the private path near his house. During the firing, a bullet hit Prasad's brother Brijmohan Sinha in hand. He is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital.
"After the gunfire, chaos ensued at the scene. Bricks, stones and sticks were hurled for about 30 minutes. The CCTV camera footage of the incident has also emerged, showing people throwing bricks at each other. Raids are being carried out to nab the other accused," the SHO said.
