Radiology assistant found dead in Noida hospital washroom, had ‘slipped on floor’
Noida: A 28-year-old radiology assistant was found dead in the washroom of a private hospital in Sector 62 on Tuesday morning, sparking protests by his family members, who accused the hospital of negligence.
A statement issued by the hospital states that Sanjeev Kumar was found unconscious in a locked washroom of the radiology department around 9.15am, more than an hour after his shift ended at 8am.
"Despite immediate medical intervention, he was declared dead around 9.40 am. As per protocol, the body was handed over to the police for post-mortem (examination)," it said.
The hospital also expressed condolences to the family and said the administration is fully cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
Kumar was deployed at the hospital eight years ago through a general duty assistant vendor, it said.
Family members, who were informed about Kumar's death around 10.20 am, gathered outside the hospital gate to protest. Sandeep, the deceased's brother, stated that Sanjeev had no pre-existing health conditions. He claimed to have spoken to his brother the previous evening before his night shift, but he did not talk to him about any physical discomfort.
A complaint was submitted by the family at Sector 58 police station.
According to cops, a preliminary investigation suggested that Sandeep Kumar had "slipped on the bathroom floor and lost consciousness".
There were no visible injury marks, but the body has been sent for autopsy, the police said.
A forensic team was called to the spot.
