Nashik: The city came alive on Monday with grand celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. A series of vibrant evening processions that took place across various parts of the city, including Nashik Road, Ambad, and Satpur.
The celebrations began at midnight, as thousands gathered at Dr Ambedkar's statues across the city to pay floral tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution. In Nashik city, tributes were led by prominent leaders including Nashik MP Rajbhau Waje, Dhule MP Shobha Bachhav, and MLA Devyani Pharande. They were joined by senior officials such as CP Sandeep Karnik and NMC commissioner Manisha Khatri at the Shalimar statue.
As the clock struck 12, firecrackers lit up the night sky, marking the beginning of the celebrations. Throughout the day, a steady stream of citizens visited the statues to honor Dr Ambedkar. Various Mandals also displayed beautifully crafted tableaus depicting key moments from his life and legacy.
In the evening, massive processions made their way through the old city area, Anandavali, Nashik Road, Peth Road, Pathardi Fata, and other localities. To manage the large crowds and maintain order, police enforced traffic diversions and deployed a heavy bandobast across the city. The arrangements were supervised by CP Sandeep Karnik, DCP (Zone 1) Kirankumar Chavan, and DCP (Zone 2) Monica Raut, ensuring peaceful and incident-free celebrations.
