Bros arrested for killing, burying woman in 2023

Bijnor: Two brothers have been arrested after they confessed to killing a 24-year-old woman and burying her in a roadside pit near Bijnor in Nov 2023. police said on Sunday. The woman had left her husband and moved in with his younger brother a few months before she was murdered.
Ashifa had married Kamil, 26, a resident of Basta village, five years ago. After their divorce, she began living with his younger brother, Mohammad Adil. When Ashifa's mother, Asma, did not hear from her for over a year, she filed a missing person report on March 25.
During questioning on Saturday evening, the brothers allegedly admitted to killing Ashifa and led police to her remains, buried near a garbage dump along the Naiwala to Hallupura road. "Adil believed she was seeing other men and feared she might kill him. So he planned the murder with Kamil and their aunt Chandni," said a police officer.
Bijnor SP Abhishek Jha said police had filed a case under relevant BNS sections against Kamil and Adil. Chandni has not yet been arrested and remains on the run. Police have sent Ashifa's skeleton for postmortem examination.
