Mangaluru: A total of 22,525 candidates from Dakshina Kannada have registered for Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority, which will begin on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the test was held for Gadinadu/Horanadu Kannadigas.
In the Dakshina Kannada district, preparations were complete for the test and the test will be held in 43 centres across the district, officials said.
For students under Clause C (Horanadu) and Clause D (Gadinadu), the Kannada language test was conducted on Tuesday in Mangaluru. A total of 655 registered, among whom 106 were absent.
The exams on Wednesday will cover Physics and Chemistry, and on Thursday, Mathematics and Biology. Enhanced security measures have been implemented, officials said. To prevent exam malpractices, surveillance cameras have been installed, similar to recruitment exams. A trained team from Govt Karnatak Polytechnic College will oversee various aspects like QR code and face recognition on hall tickets, while webcasting will monitor all cameras at the exam centres.
Students will be allowed inside the exam centre only after a thorough security check. Therefore, candidates are advised to arrive at least 90 minutes early for the inspection. The KEA has instructed that candidates' identities will be verified through facial recognition and QR code scanning. This system is implemented to prevent impersonation, and during the seat allocation process for college admissions, the candidate's photograph will be matched to ensure authenticity, effectively curbing fake candidates. Separate dress codes for male and female candidates are mandated, which must be strictly followed.
