7 LU students suspended for April 9 clash
Lucknow: The Lucknow University on Tuesday suspended seven students, who did not respond to show-cause notices for alleged involvement in a group clash near the administrative block of the main campus.
On April 9, two groups clashed inside the campus for one-upmanship, leaving 19 students injured. In response, the university formed a five-member committee to investigate the matter. Based on the committee's findings, eight students were issued show-cause notices on April 11 and were given two working days to submit their reply. However, none of the student submitted the response. As a result, the authorities put them under suspension.
According to the order issued by the proctor office, the suspended students are Ayush Pathak (BCom Hons 2nd year), Ritik Rai (BCom Hons 3rd year), Vinay Singh (BA NEP 2nd year), Martand Vikram Singh (BA NEP 1st year), Vikrant Singh (BA NEP 2nd year), Udit Narayan (BA NEP 2nd year), and Yashraj Singh alias Aryan (MA ancient Indian history 1st year). Agnivesh Dubey, a first-year MA geography student, who was involved in a similar violent incident on Sept 26, 2024, is already under suspension.
The clash had led to the registration of an FIR at Hasanganj police station under sections 191(2), 125, and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Citing a serious breach of discipline and a threat to campus safety, LU has also barred the suspended students from entering the premises or availing academic and residential facilities.
