Kolhapur crime branch cracks theft case of Rs9.8 lakh at cosmetics warehouse in 48 hours, arrests man
Kolhapur: The Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested a 23-year old man within 48 hours of committing a theft of Rs9.8 lakh from his former employer. The accused stole from a safe in the latter's godown at Rukmini Nagar in Ruikar Colony in the city on Thursday.
LCB nabbed him on Friday from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
Assistant inspector Chetan Masutge said, "Govindprasad Bhawarlal Nayak (23), is the name of the accused who was arrested from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, and cash worth Rs9 lakh 80 thousand was seized."
Raju Ram Kesari, a cosmetic products wholesale trader went to his warehouse on Sunday to find Rs9.8 lakh missing from his safe. He filed a complaint with the LCB who found, upon reviewing 27 CCTV camera footages, the accused worker in the warehouse on Saturday, then at Kolhapur Railway Station. Kesari identified him, following which his mobile location took LCB to Uttar Pradesh.
"Our team went to Uttar Pradesh, and the accused Govindprasad was arrested from Ghaziabad Industrial Estate. The suspect was employed by the trader a month ago. He observed that there was hardly anyone in the godown during the daytime. The suspect left work and went to Rajasthan. He started working in a factory in Ghaziabad. After a few days, he arrived in Kolhapur for two days to carry out the theft," said Masutge.
