Woman stabbed by son over property dispute in Kanpur
Kanpur: A man stabbed his mother to death over a property dispute in Narayanpuri area within the Hanumant Vihar police station jurisdiction on Wednesday.
On being informed, ADCP South Mahesh Kumar arrived at the scene with the police force and forensic team.
The victim, identified as 55-year-old Pramila, resided with her husband Rustam alias Dharmendra in Refugee Colony of Fatehpur. She was staying at her daughter Preetu Singh's residence in Narayanpuri for a dental treatment over the past ten days. Her son had been asking her to transfer property for several weeks. On the fateful morning, he visited his sister's house in Narayanpuri where his mother was temporarily staying. After a heated argument over the property dispute, Raja Singh pulled out a knife from his pocket and stabbed his mother to death. Hearing the commotion, neighbours gathered there and tried to intervene. By then the accused fled the scene.
Locals alerted the police and the victim was rushed to the nearby govt hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The investigating team, led by ADCP South Mahesh Kumar, sealed the crime scene and collected crucial evidence including the murder weapon.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Raja Singh had become aggressive over the issue of property as his prospective in-laws reportedly made the property ownership a condition for the marriage alliance. The victim's husband, Rustam alias Dharmendra, was informed at their Fatehpur residence. He told investigators that there were tensions regarding the property in the family but he never anticipated such a violent outcome.
Police have formed special teams to nab Raja Singh, who remains at large
