Kanpur traders urge metro renaming

Kanpur: A delegation of Mahatma Gandhi Marg Vyapar Mandal, led by Chotey Bhai Noronha, on Wednesday met divisional commissioner Vijendra Pandyan and demanded that the name of Nayaganj metro station should be renamed. They insisted that it should be in the name of Mahatma Gandhi because the station is situated on Mahatma Gandhi Narg at Noronha crossing.
Chotey Bhai Noronha apprised that, in 2022, when the name of Nayaganj metro station was announced, Kanpur Nagrik Manch had given memorandums and claimed that it should be in the name of Mahatma Gandhi.
He handed over the old correspondence with officials in this regard, along with a memorandum signed by around 300 persons, to the divisional commissioner.
