Labourer dies after friends pump air into his body using compressor
Indore: In a shocking incident in Indore's Azad Nagar area, a 30-year-old labourer lost his life after five of his friends allegedly pumped air into body using a compressor, causing his veins to rupture.
Azad Nagar police station in-charge Vijay Sisodiya said Motiram from Khargone district, who was living in Indore and worked as a daily wage worker at a local dal mill, died after five of his friends allegedly pumped compressed air into his body, leading to ruptured veins and fatal internal injuries. The incident occurred on Sunday morning in the Azad Nagar area.
According to hospital authorities, an unidentified man dropped Motiram at MY Hospital in critical condition in an e-rickshaw and fled the scene immediately after pretending to talk on the phone. Officials said that he was brought to the hospital bleeding from his private parts. Despite the doctors' efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. Upon receiving the information, the Sanyogitaganj police launched an investigation and contacted Motiram's family for identification.
Initial suspicions led the police to consider the case as a murder. They shared the details with nearby police stations and visited the factory where Motiram worked. The factory manager revealed that the tragic act was carried out as part of a prank by other labourers, who inserted compressed air into Motiram's body. Although the factory was equipped with CCTVs, the area where the incident occurred was covered with green netting, preventing the act from being captured on video. Police have seized the DVR for further examination.
The manager, Dheeraj Lovanshi, who was formerly a bus conductor and was hired just four months ago, is currently under interrogation. He was also the person who transported labourers to and from the factory and was identified as the one who dropped Motiram at the hospital and fled. Motiram's brother, Sheru, said he spoke with him around 6:45 am and was told that he would be home shortly. An hour later, Sheru received a call informing him that Motiram met with an accident and was in MY Hospital. By the time he reached the hospital, his brother already passed away.
