ROHTAK: A broken wheel and a muffled sound undid a bold and bizarre plan ?to sneak a girl into a university hostel stuffed inside a large trolley bag.
The scene unfolded at a private university on Narela Road in Sonipat. In a video that quickly went viral, guards were stunned to unzip the suitcase and find a young woman curled up inside during a security check at the hostel gate.
Her two female friends helped pack her into the trolley bag inside the girls' hostel. The bag was then carefully handed over to her boyfriend and another male friend near the hostel gate, with instructions to carry it gently. The boy planned to claim the bag simply contained belongings brought from home. The plan worked. Almost.
One of the bag's wheels broke en route to the hostel, jolting it hard enough to startle the girl. In a moment of panic, she let out a sound that caught the attention of a nearby security guard. Suspicious, the guard stopped the boys and demanded to inspect the bag.
Security officers quickly arrived at the scene and detained the students involved. Senior university officials, including the campus security in-charge, were informed and responded immediately.
University responds
A university spokesperson confirmed the incident. "The girl was packed into a travel bag by her friends, and the boys were attempting to take the bag into the hostel. It was a mischievous act and they were caught," the spokesperson said.
Following the viral video, the university administration issued show-cause notices to all students involved. An internal inquiry is under way to determine the full extent of student involvement. A formal hearing and student questioning are scheduled for April 25, after which disciplinary decisions will be taken.
