Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday demanded that BRS working president
K T Rama Rao explain to the people of Telangana whether the silver jubilee celebrations and public meeting at Warangal on April 27 were those of BRS or TRS.
"BRS was formed in Oct 2022, and TRS was founded 25 years ago. After the party leadership removed the word ‘Telangana' from TRS and renamed it as Bharat Rashtra Samithi, TRS ceased to exist. KTR should tell the people whether his party's name is BRS or TRS," Kiran Reddy said.
The Congress MP hit back at KTR for stating that there was a historic necessity for K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS govt to return to power.
"The people of Telangana defeated the KCR-led BRS in the 2023 assembly polls and gave power to Congress. Later, the people gave zero to BRS in the Lok Sabha elections. In a democracy, it is the people who decide which party should come to power," he added.
The KCR-led BRS govt turned the revenue surplus Telangana into a revenue deficit state.
They spent over 1 lakh crore on the Kaleshwaram project without following expert advice, due to which some of the components of the project collapsed.
"Why would people want KCR back? Is it to again start looting the wealth of Telangana and its people?" asked Kiran Reddy.
