As some of the most sought-after professions in the country, they continue to attract students who are academically driven and passionate about healthcare. The fierce competition for medical and dental seats at premier institutions is a reflection of the immense respect and value these fields hold in Indian society.
Recently, the Asia University Rankings 2025, released by Times Higher Education (THE), brought into focus the performance of academic institutions across Asia, including a fair representation from India. While Indian colleges did not dominate the charts, several institutions managed to secure decent positions—particularly in disciplines like medicine and dentistry. These rankings assess institutions based on parameters like teaching quality, research output, international outlook, and industry income, providing a comprehensive view of academic performance.


Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences recorded a high score of 88.6 in research quality, reflecting its strength in academic publications and citations. Its international outlook stood at 72.5, showing substantial global engagement. However, its teaching score was 34, with relatively modest numbers in research environment (16) and industry income (19.4).

Jamia Millia Islamia had a teaching score of 41, and a research quality score of 78.6, indicating solid academic standards and output. The university also showed strength in industry engagement, scoring 40.9, though its research environment was 15.8. Its international outlook was measured at 40.4.

KIIT University reported a teaching score of 38.5 and research environment of 17.4, aligning with moderate performance in academic input. It received 68.6 in research quality and a relatively strong industry score of 55.9. The international outlook was recorded at 41.7, reflecting average global collaboration.

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) matched KIIT in several parameters. It scored 38.5 in teaching and 17.4 in research environment, along with 68.6 in research quality. The university also recorded 55.9 in industry engagement and an international outlook score of 41.7, placing it in a similar bracket in terms of performance.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) showed comparatively higher performance in teaching, with a score of 48.7, and had a research environment rating of 17.9. Its research quality stood at 65.9, while industry income was 29.6. The international outlook was relatively lower, at 26.4, indicating limited global academic interaction.
