Gurgaon: Two persons have been arrested days after one of them allegedly opened fire at a man for being friends with his ex-girlfriend.
The incident took place around at 11pm on April 10 near Welldone Tech Park in Sector 48. The accused, who was in a relationship with the woman, shot at her new friend outside their office, police said on Sunday.
Earlier, they had threatened the victim with dire consequences if he continued to talk to the woman. Police said after an FIR under relevant sections, including attempt to murder, had been registered at Sadar police station. Main accused Som Shukla, a resident of Gandhi Nagar in UP's Jalaun district, was arrested from Lucknow on Saturday (April 12).
His associate Rinku, a resident of UP's Mathura district, was arrested from that city the same day, police said.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Som had purchased the firearm from Rinku.
The victim, an employee at a private company located in the tech park, was leaving the office with a female colleague, when Som — identified as a former friend of the woman — confronted them.
The victim said in his written complaint that Som had warned him a few days earlier to stop talking to the woman, claiming she was his friend and threatening him with dire consequences.
Som stopped the duo near the office gate, repeated his threat and when the victim refused to back off, he pulled out a pistol and opened fire. The victim ran inside the building to escape. Som chased him and fired another round near the SBI Bank located inside the premises.
The bullet narrowly missed the victim's temple and he managed to save himself by hiding inside the building.
Police recovered two empty bullet shells — one from outside the exit gate and one from inside the building near the bank.
