SCERT to be autonomous from April 1
Panaji: The State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will acquire its autonomous status from April 1, education officials announced on Saturday. SCERT director Meghana Shetgaonkar said that this will ensure that many processes like recruitment are fast-tracked at the SCERT.“SCERT was a section of the department of education until now. We have registered as autonomous under societies act. We will now have a governing council made up of academicians and experts. The governing council will take all decisions and this will fast-track many things. There will be no delays in appointments,” Shetgaonkar further said.Hereon, the SCERT will also get its own budget from govt, she added.SCERT has become a crucial body as NEP implementation begins in the state from Classes I to VIII. All decisions for these classes will be taken by the SCERT, which will also facilitate the shift, while for Classes IX to XII the state board will be the implementing agency.
