KAITHAL: A post was made on social media by the Babbar Khalsa group claiming responsibility for a grenade attack around 4 AM at the Ajimgarh police check post in
Haryana on Sunday, April 6. However, the name of the outpost was written as Jeengarh, while the actual outpost was Azimgarh which falls under Gulha police station of Kaithal district. Following the post, both Haryana and Punjab police were put on high alert, and senior officers from both forces reached the location for investigation.
After the matter gained traction in the media, it was discovered that the correct location could be Azimgarh outpost, which falls in the Guhla area and is close to the Punjab border. At the time, after initial investigation, the police had termed the post a mere rumour, stating that no such attack had occurred at or near the outpost.
However, both Haryana and Punjab police have been investigating the case since that day, though no arrests have been made so far.
Now, based on a complaint by Sub-Inspector Dalbir Singh, in charge of the outpost, a case has been registered at the Guhla police station against Mannu Agwan and Pachiyagopi Nawasariya for allegedly carrying out the blast. It is reported that these individuals had claimed responsibility for the attack via social media.
Senior police officers, including SP Rajesh Kalia, have been frequently visiting the Azimgarh outpost. It is said that soil samples from the suspected blast site have been collected and sent for testing. Only after the forensic analysis will it be clear whether the explosion involved a grenade or some other flammable substance.
DSP (crime branch) Sushil Prakash stated that a case has been registered against Mannu Agwan and Pachiyagopi Nawasariya for allegedly setting off an explosive near the Azimgarh outpost. He confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, involving both Kaithal police and Punjab police. He clarified that it will be cleared after a report that whether it is a grenade or IED (Improvised Explosive Device).
