Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad to launch MTech course in quantum info & technology
Prayagraj: Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad, will soon introduce an MTech course in quantum information and technology. Admission for this new course will start in July this year, with 20 seats available. The course has been designed in collaboration with the Advanced Computing Development Center (CDAC) Pune, Harish Chandra Research Institute (HRI) Prayagraj and Icer Pune.
The objective of the course is to create manpower for the four hubs created by the National Quantum Mission: quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum materials and devices and quantum sensing. The proposal has been sent to the Board of Governors (BOG) for formal approval, after which the admission process will begin. To gain admission to the course, it will be mandatory for students to pass the GATE exam. BTech students can also take admission in this course. If the seats remain vacant, the institution may conduct an entrance exam.
Prof Akhilesh Tiwari of the institute said that students of BSc four years and MSc will benefit the most from this course. Until now, the scope for these students was very limited, but this course will also be a new opportunity for them.
