Ohio Turnpike issues warning: Beware of fake toll payment texts
Authorities are alerting Ohio drivers about a scam involving fraudulent text messages demanding payment for unpaid tolls.
The Ohio Turnpike emphasized that it never sends text messages requesting toll payments. Instead, unpaid tolls are collected through up to three invoices sent via US Mail.
“Scammers are preying on drivers by sending fake texts about unpaid tolls,” the Ohio Turnpike said in a statement. “We do not collect payments through text messages.”

However, officials clarified that drivers may receive legitimate text messages from Reliant Capital Solutions, LLC, a collection agency working for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, regarding accounts that are more than 90 days past due. Anyone receiving such a message should call 866-738-3182 before making any payments.
