Patna district faces a slow pace in linking land records with Aadhaar numbers, despite the looming May 31 deadline
PATNA: The linking of land records to Aadhar numbers in Patna district is progressing slowly, despite the approaching May 31 deadline. This initiative will make it easier for anyone to prove his or her land ownership and help in preventing land-related frauds.
According to sources in the revenue and land reforms dept, only 17.45 lakh people have so far applied for Aadhaar seedings and around 13 lakh applications have already been processed in the district.
Paliganj is on top of Aadhaar seeding with more than 75,000 applications processed, closely followed by 74,000 in Masaurhi, 67,000 in Punpun, 59,000 in Bankipur and 57,000 in Dhanarua block.
The linking of jamabandi with Aadhaar numbers has several advantages, including receiving SMS notifications on mobile phone if there are any changes made in the Jamabandi after linking or any mutation application is submitted against it to alert the land owner against any fraud being attempted.
