'Wife had affair with his nephew': How air tag, passport copy, foreign SIM helped UP cops crack Dubai-returnee's brutal murder

A suitcase found in a UP field led to the shocking murder of Naushad Ahmad, who had returned from Dubai days earlier. Police traced clues like a passport copy and airport tag to uncover that his wife and nephew—also her lover—allegedly killed and dismembered him. The duo feared exposure of their affair. Both accused have been arrested.
'Wife had affair with his nephew': How air tag, passport copy, foreign SIM helped UP cops crack Dubai-returnee's brutal murder
LUCKNOW: What began as the mysterious discovery of a suitcase in a field turned into a horrifying tale of betrayal, forbidden love, and a brutal murder in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district.
Naushad Ahmad (38), a Dubai-based worker, had returned home just days before meeting a gruesome end allegedly at the hands of his wife and her lover, who was also his nephew.
On Sunday morning, a farmer in Patkhauli village stumbled upon a trolley bag abandoned in his field. What he found inside was chilling — a male torso wrapped in plastic. Hours later, police recovered the lower half of the body from a nearby sack. With no immediate leads, the case appeared to be a mystery. But it didn’t stay one for long.

Air tag, passport copy lead to breakthrough
Investigators found a series of crucial clues inside and near the suitcase — a foreign SIM card, a travel barcode, an airport luggage tag, and most importantly, photocopied documents, including a passport copy. These indicated that the victim had recently returned from abroad.
Matching the luggage to Naushad Ahmad, police confirmed he had returned from Dubai just 10 days ago. It was the same suitcase he used on his flight home. This led officers straight to his residence in Bhatauli village, where his elderly father and six-year-old daughter still lived — unaware of the grisly fate that had befallen Naushad under the same roof.
A forgiven affair, a fatal return
As the investigation progressed, a disturbing backstory emerged. Locals revealed that Naushad had discovered his wife’s illicit relationship with his nephew nearly a year ago. The affair had caused a stir in the community and was addressed by the local panchayat. Naushad had chosen forgiveness and attempted to move forward with his family.
But when he returned from Dubai this time, the affair had allegedly resumed — this time with deadly consequences.
Police say the wife and nephew conspired to kill Naushad, fearing that their rekindled relationship would once again be exposed, potentially ruining their standing in the community. They allegedly murdered him inside the house using a chopper, axe, and pestle, chopped the body, and packed the parts into his own luggage before dumping it in the field.
Accused held, weapons recovered
Under the leadership of SP Vikran Vir, investigators not only pieced together the motive but also recovered the murder weapons from the house and Naushad’s mobile phone, adding to the damning evidence.
While Naushad’s father remained unaware of the murder that occurred under his roof, police say his young daughter, Atifa, has been taken under the care of relatives as the investigation continues.
