Woman ends life after obscene video leak on social media

Vijayawada: A 23-year-old woman from Pamidimarru in Narasaraopet mandal of Palnadu district ended her life after an obscene video of her was leaked on social media. She consumed rat poison on Friday and kept the matter from her family for several hours.
According to Narasaraopeta rural circle inspector (CI) P Rama Krishna, the victim was married and had two children. She was in extramarital relationship with a 25-year-old auto rickshaw driver from the same village. In the course of their relationship, the woman shared private photos and videos with him. However, complications arose as the man was also involved with another 24-year-old woman in the locality. Eventually, rivalry between the two women over the man intensified, leading to frequent confrontations and altercations.
As an act of revenge, the 24-year-old woman got access to her partner's mobile phone and posted the victim's private videos on social media platforms. The CI said that the man was aware of the incident but did not thwart her.
Unable to bear the humiliation and betrayal, the victim consumed rat poison at home. As her health condition worsened, her family rushed her to a private hospital on Friday. Despite medical treatment, she succumbed to the poisoning at the hospital on Saturday.
A case has been registered. While the accused woman was arrested, the cops are searching for the absconding man.
