King George Hospital doctors get show cause notices for absence during minister’s visit
Visakhapatnam: The King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam has been in the spotlight after several doctors received show cause notices for their absence during a visit by the district in-charge minister, Dola Bal Veeraanjaneya Swamy, on April 18. The minister had instructed officials to issue notices to doctors who were absent during his visit, and subsequently, seven doctors received show cause notices.
The doctors who received notices include the head of the gastroenterology department, LRS Girinath, associate professor Sridevi, assistant professors Dr. Vamsi Yadav and Mohan Vamsi, nephrology wing head Dr. G Prasad, Dr. Ratnaprabha, and Dr. IS Anita.
In a separate incident, the Director of Medical Education (DME), Dr. Venkateswara Rao, conducted a surprise inspection of the hospital on April 22. During the inspection, he noticed the absence of a few doctors and instructed officials to issue show cause notices to them. As a result, notices were issued to an anesthesia wing technician, casualty medical officer, emergency wing head, assistant professor, and a head nurse.
