Vijayawada: Commissioner for medical, health and family welfare, and state nodal officer for the Prime Minister's visit, G Veerapandian, directed the concerned officials to complete all arrangements for PM Narendra Modi's visit by April 28. In view of the PM's tour to relaunch the Amaravati works on May 2, Veerapandian, along with Krishna district collector DK Balaji and superintendent of police (SP) R Gangadhar Rao, inspected the security arrangements at Gannavaram international airport on Friday.
Addressing a review meeting, Veerapandian said that on April 28, the special protection group (SPG) would arrive and hold a meeting on the arrangements made for PM's visit. He emphasised that concerned officials should ensure the tasks assigned to them by the district collector are completed before the SPG team's arrival. He further directed officials to ensure no vehicular movement takes place, and that all construction-related activities are suspended on the routes scheduled for the PM's convoy.
On the occasion, the district collector informed the nodal officer that necessary instructions had been issued to concerned officials to arrange 10 fire tenders, food testing teams, ambulances, and medicines to provide emergency medical services. Siddhartha College has also been readied to provide the required medical support.
Subsequently, the district collector stated that instructions were given to transport corporation officials to deploy adequate buses to transport people to the meeting venue and provide necessary vehicles for transporting VIPs and VVIPs participating in the PM's tour.
SP Gangadhar Rao explained that foolproof security arrangements are being made under his supervision, along with two additional SPs, eight DSP-rank officers, and personnel from Octopus and Greyhounds units overseeing the security. He also stated that vehicles from neighbouring districts will be diverted through alternative routes, and necessary parking arrangements are being made at the airport.
