VARANASI: Zeba Afroz, a schoolteacher posted at Maloghat primary school in Chopan area of Sonbhadra, was suspended by the basic education officer for her "objectionable remarks" on a Navy official who fell to terrorists' bullets in the
Pahalgam terror attack.
She was accused of making remarks about the officer's religious identity. An investigation has been ordered into the matter and a report is to be submitted within 15 days.
Speaking to TOI on Sunday, Sonbhadra basic education officer Mukul Anand Pandey said, "The posts on Facebook wall of Zeba Afroz were found objectionable and against service rules. Hence, she was suspended with immediate effect on May 2. She was attached to primary school Ranitali during the suspension period. The additional basic education officer, Myorpur, has been asked to investigate the matter and submit his report in 15 days. Future action against her will be decided on arrival of the report."
Zeba Afroz, in her 30s, shared some posts on Facebook regarding the Pahalgam terrorist attack and another incident. On receiving complaints against her, along with screenshots of her comments, the suspension order was issued.
The official order copy contained remarks she made on her social media account as comments on a picture of the wife of the Navy official killed in the terror attack sitting near his body.
Another objectionable comment with religious overtones was made by her on her social media page about the arrest of a murder accused in a police encounter in Agra some time ago.
