AHMEDABAD: The body of a 24-year-old man was found stuffed in a white plastic sack, his mouth taped shut and his body tightly bound with rope, near the Indira Bridge ghats on the banks of the Sabarmati River. Sabarmati Riverfront East Police registered an FIR on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Akash Pawar, a resident of Nanddeep Residency, Odhav. His father, Premsingh Pawar, 45, a finance company operator, lodged the complaint after identifying the body at Civil Hospital.

According to the FIR, Akash was last seen leaving his home around 1pm on May 1 on his motorcycle. He failed to return, and repeated calls to his mobile went unanswered.
Premsingh told police in his statement: "On May 2 around 2pm, someone unknown answered Akash's phone but refused to speak properly. After that, the phone was switched off. When my son did not return home, I filed a missing person report at Odhav police station."
On May 3, Sabarmati East Police received information about a suspicious sack near Indira Bridge.
According to the FIR: "Akash's body was found tied with a rope, his mouth sealed with plastic tape, placed inside a white plastic sack. The sack had a white strap tightly tied over it and was partially stitched shut at the top. The body appeared to have been dumped at the riverbank to destroy evidence."
The sack was discovered near the Chhath Ghat under the Indira Bridge. Police suspect the body was dumped during the night between May 2 and May 3.
A case has been registered under BNS Section 103(1) for murder and Section 238 for causing the disappearance of evidence. Police are scanning CCTV footage near the bridge and surrounding roads. Akash's mobile call records are also being retrieved to trace the last person he spoke to.
Investigators believe the murder was premeditated and that more than one person may be involved, given the method of disposal. Further forensic analysis is underway.
