Seven convicted in Karur for sexual assault of minor girls

Seven convicted in Karur for sexual assault of minor girls
Karur: The Karur additional sessions court for women on Wednesday sentenced seven men to rigorous imprisonment for sexual offences committed against minor girls.
In the first case registered in 2020 at the Sri Lankan Tamil Rehabilitation Centre, six men — A Nishanth, 24, S Aravind, 24, S Vasanth, 24, A Kalaivanan, 29, J Gokulnath, 24, and M Parthiban, 31, were convicted for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl. Nishanth and Aravind received 10 years rigorous imprisonment, while the remaining four were awarded three years each.
In another case from 2021, 59-year-old H Abdul Samad was sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl . The court also ordered a compensation of 7 lakh to the survivor. All convicts are lodged in Trichy Central Prison.
Karur SP M Feroz Khan Abdullah lauded the efforts of investigating officers and court personnel for ensuring justice in both cases.
