T'puram: Veena Vijayan, daughter of chief minister
Pinarayi Vijayan, denied reports that she gave a statement before the serious fraud investigation office (SFIO) about receiving money from Cochin Minerals and Rutiles Limited (CMRL) without providing any services to them.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Veena said, "The claim that I gave a statement to the SFIO about receiving money from CMRL without providing services is completely false. It has come to my attention that such news is being widely circulated. I have not given any statement as some are currently spreading. It is true that I gave a statement before the investigating officer, and it was recorded by them. However, neither I nor Exalogic Solutions (the company owned by Veena) made any statement about receiving money from CMRL without providing services. I reiterate that such claims are baseless."
According to certain media reports, the SFIO chargesheet states that Veena admitted before the SFIO investigation team that she did not provide any services to CMRL. More details from Veena's statement in the chargesheet have emerged. It was reported that Veena allegedly diverted funds from CMRL to clear a private debt.
Meanwhile, the SFIO transferred the CMRL-Exalogic monthly pay-off case to central agencies. The investigation details were shared with the National Financial Reporting Authority, Reserve Bank of India, Central Economic Intelligence Bureau, and National Company Law Tribunal.
