Cylinder explodes at makeshift house in Krishnagiri
KRISHNAGIRI: A cylinder exploded at a makeshift house near Berigai in Krishnagiri district on Thursday. Goods worth Rs 1 lakh were destroyed in the fire.
Police said the incident took place at a hut set up by Ranjith Kumar of Kariyachandram village. He was constructing a house and was residing nearby in a makeshift hut. “While he was cooking in the hut a gas leak ignited a fire,” said a police officer from Perigai police station.
Ranjith lost his possessions which were stored in the hut, including Rs 35,000 in cash and 30kg of copper wires valued at around Rs 30,000, which were meant to be used for electricity connection in the new house.
Fire and rescue services from Soolagiri fire station rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after an hour-long of effort. The Perigai police have registered a case and are investigating.
