Earlier, Kashyap shared with The Hollywood Reporter India that he was deeply frustrated with the Hindi film industry and planned to relocate to South India for a more creatively stimulating space. He expressed admiration for South filmmakers, lamenting how profit-driven decisions in Bollywood have stripped away the joy of filmmaking.

The filmmaker is currently promoting the Hindi release of Footage, a Malayalam film presented by him. Directed by Saiju Sreedharan, the film features Manju Warrier, Vishak Nair, and Gayathri Ashok in key roles. Originally released in August last year, its Hindi version is set to premiere on March 7, 2025.
Meanwhile, Anurag will next be seen as a fearless cop in Dacoit, which is being shot in both Hindi and Telugu. The forthcoming film will also star Mrunal alongside Adivi Sesh. Directed by Shaneil Deo, the film follows the story of an enraged convict bent on taking revenge against his ex-girlfriend, who has betrayed him. As he devises a dangerous plan to ensnare her, the narrative unfolds into a gripping and emotionally charged journey of love, betrayal, and vengeance.
